Kalila is the author of her memoir Fishing for Equilibrium: The Power of a Diary, as well as many poems, several of which have been printed in local California publications.
Her holiday stories “Kentucky Fried Christmas,” “Christmas Kaleidoscope” and “Holiday Tenderness” appeared in the Bay News. The first story is also part of the collection in The Best of SLO NightWriters in Tolosa Press 2009-2013.
She previously worked as a Trail Host at lovely Point Buchon Trail (see Facebook) and was the Docent Coordinator for the Pecho Coast Trail. Kalila sings with the Canzona Women’s Ensemble http://canzonawomen.org (their next concert will be great!) and intermittently with the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale. She lives on the beautiful California Central Coast where she enjoys hiking and taking photos such as Morro Rock shown above.
Kalila was born and named Kelly Fentress, grew up in Simsbury, CT, attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated from Indiana University. She and husband Jacob are the proud parents of Danya and Tess.
